A Conservation Lands Education Program Field Trip: Alachua Audubon is sponsoring its fourth series of field trips that bring attention to local land conservation efforts. These trips highlight properties that protect plant and animal life. Each will focus on that site’s unique flora, fauna and history. These field trips are designed to be educational experiences, so the emphasis will be on much more than birding.

Alachua County Forever and the SJRWMD purchased this 1388-acre tract of longleaf pine flatwoods, sandhill and swamp in 2003 and opened it to the public in 2005. The Reserve has a 7-mile trail system divided into three loops. It is the best local site to find Bachman’s Sparrows.
