Please be advised that in the event that south bound US-441 is still flooded, Bolen Bluff can be reached by approaching from the south. Local traffic is allowed. Take I-75 to Exit 375 (Micanopy) and turn left onto CR 234 and follow it to US-441 and turn left after telling the State Trooper that you are going to Bolen Bluff. Or you can take Wacahoota Road that turns off of Williston Road to US-441N (this intersection has no Trooper).
Meet trip leader Mike Manetz at the trailhead on US-441 at the south rim of Paynes Prairie. Bolen Bluff is one of Gainesville’s perennial favorite birding locations, especially during fall songbird migration, which is beginning to peak now. This is often the best walk of the season for warblers and thrushes. Entry fee $2 per vehicle.
Difficulty: 3 (may involve elevation change, uneven terrain, and/or walking distances greater than two miles).
